Why Join ACTS II?

Thirty years ago the ALBERTA CONSERVATION TILLAGE SOCIETY was conceived with the vision “Soil is #1—Don’t Blow It”! Today it is said that the time for conservation agriculture is at hand.

With refined farming practices we have increased production, built soil health, water quality in our water sheds is improving, and even our air quality is benefiting from that “Soil is #1” vision.

ACTS II is a volunteer producer board with representatives province wide. Our mandate is our soils and this board meets four times per year. Two of our members represent ACTS II to the FarmTech Conference board four to five times per year. Another attends the “Alberta Surface Rights Federation” meetings four times per year, and another represents ACTS II at the “Red Deer River Watershed Alliance” committee meetings. ACTS II is represented to the Alberta Environmental Farm Plan Company” once per year. One board member also travels to the “Soil Conservation Council of Canada” (SCCC) meetings twice per year and holds the position of “Taking Charge Team Leader” for Greenhouse Gas Issues in Alberta.

Your membership in ACTS II supports these activities, but most importantly this membership lends credibility to ACTS II as the producer group representing the soil managers of Alberta. We need each other, you the resource manager, and ACTS II your representative. So, if you’ve never taken a membership or if it’s time to renew—your membership benefits you!
