We are proud to feature some of our projects on this page that we feel may be of particular interest to Alberta producers.
Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Project
The Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Project (ECEE) is discovering and implementing ways to make Alberta producers the leaders in energy use and efficiency. Through funding by Alberta Agriculture and Alberta Environment, ARECA is working with producers and their agronomists to increase adoption of reduced tillage systems, precision farming and variable rate technology (VRT) practices and usage of energy-efficient equipment technologies. The Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Project (ECEE) is discovering and implementing ways to make Alberta producers the leaders in energy use and efficiency. Controlled Traffic Farming Alberta
Controlled traffic farming is a system that tries to separate the area on which machinery travels from the area where the crop grows. Permanent traffic lanes where all machinery travels each year are established. A farmer needs to build a machinery system where, as much as possible, all machinery uses a similar wheel gauge (distance between wheels across the machine). One of the most common systems used is a 30 foot seeder, 30 foot combine/header and 90 foot sprayer, all running on a similar wheel gauge, for example 10 feet.

Biofuels: Impact and Markets - Where to From Here?
The production of biofuels has become a contentious issue around the world. There are those who contend that making biofuels has negative impacts on international food supply, while those supporting the expansion of the industry would argue that an alternative use for crops will give producers good returns on their input investment. From June 16-20, 2008, ARECA and some of its member associations delivered workshops in Barrhead, Grimshaw, Coronation and St. Paul, giving producers an opportunity to find out more about the pros and cons of the emerging biofuels industry.
