Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture
Initiatives Program (ESAIP)
As part of the $2.5 million grant from Alberta Agriculture and Food, ARECA launched the Environmentally Sustainabile Agriculture Initiatives Program (ESAIP).  The one-time $700,000 fund supported projects that are complementary to objectives of environmentally sustainable agriculture.

The application process was open to individuals, agricultural and environmental organizations, commodity groups and assocations, First Nations, applied research associations, forage assocations, any of which could have been either private, public or non-government entities.

The program sought projects which included, but were not limited to:

* nutrient management
* soil and water management and monitoring
* integrated crop management
* riparian and grazing management
* climate change
* greenhouse gases
* biodiversity
