PEACE agriculture RESEARCH AND
DEMONSTRATION ASSOCIATION (PARDA)
Peace Agriculture Research and Demonstration Association (Peace Ag R&D) recently changed their name from Fairview Applied Research Association (FARA).  Located in the heart of the Peace Country, we are an association committed to improving management practices and developing technology to increase the profitability of grain producers in northern Alberta.

Peace Ag R&D conducts a wide variety of research ranging from regional variety to chemical application trials. We also participate in demonstration days that allow the grain and oilseed producers in the area to preview some of the up and coming potential advancements in the agriculture industry. The growing season north of the Peace River is much shorter than a large portion of Alberta’s farmable acres; therefore; a significant part of our research focuses on region variety trials, which attempt to isolate varieties of grain and oilseed crops that produce well in our unique area of the province. We also conduct fertilizer application trials to determine the type and optimum rate of fertilizer available for various crop types. Peace Ag R&D are focuses on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) principles which help to ensure that studies of pesticides are carried out to the highest quality standards.

Our region:

PARDA serves an area of 4.2 million acres in:

MD of Fairview (No. 136) = 336,149 acres

MD of Peace (N0. 135) = 228, 537 acres

County of Clearhills – No. 21S = 1.6M acres

                                    No. 21N = 2.048 M acres

Our region, in the heart of the Peace country, displays a wide range of variation in land use and soil types.
