GPS Crop Yield Monitoring Program
The GPS Crop Yield Monitoring Program involves collecting crop yield information from reclaimed industrial sites in Alberta. The information gathered helps to determine the impact on productivity on the land over an extended period of time.
Farmers who have yield monitors on their combines and a reclaimed industrial site on their land are eligible to participate in this program by contacting their ARECA Association Manager.

Sustainable Grazing Mentorship Program
The Sustainable Grazing Mentorship Program is a consulting/mentoring program being administered by ARECA, and funded through Growing Forward and Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. The Grazing Mentor program connects experienced graziers (mentors) with less experienced producers to assist with implementing Beneficial Management Practices in their grazing operation.

Post-registration Variety Trials Program
The PVT Program (also known as Regional Variety Trials) aims to coordinate variety testing trials of spring wehat, durum wheat, oat, barley, spring triticale, flax and pulse crops, and to collect the results for use by both industry and individual producers across western Canada.

Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives Program (ESAIP)
Through a one-time grant from Alberta Agriculture and Food, ARECA established the Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives Program. More commonly known as ESAIP, the program oversaw the distribution of $700,000 in funding to a wide variety of sustainable agriculture projects in Alberta.

Producers have a number of options when chosing to use an integrated approach to pest management within their crops. They can use competitive cultivars and seed treatments, alter seeding rates and dates, rotate hebicides and effectively scout their fields.

Alberta Forage Industry Network (AFIN)
In response to the needs of approximately 30,000 Albertans reliant upon forages, The Alberta Forage Industry Network was launched in late 2007. Currently in its development stage, AFIN will ultimately provide representation for those producers, industries and stakeholders involved in and relying upon forages in this province.

VRT Training - Resource Manual
Training farmers how to use the technologies of precision agriculture and variable rate technology (VRT) is complicated. In an initiative funded by Growing Forward and Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, ARECA, it’s Associations and industry partners are pleased to offer a resource manual on Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing and VRT for more efficient application of fertilizer and herbicides. Training workshops were offered in Alberta during March, 2010.
To complement the workshops, a resource manual was written to support the presentations delivered at the workshops. The manual provides an overview of precision agriculture, GIS, GPS, VRT, economics, service providers, yield monitoring, remote sensing and websites/references.
